Coming to RCCt

Coming in

When you arrive please go through the door into the court. The security guard will ask to check your bag.

Carry on to the lift, which you should take to the 5th floor. From there follow the signs to the CAB Office. This is the same room that is used for Probate enquiries on other days.

If you have a hearing you may want to check in with the usher on the 3rd floor to let her know you are in the building, before coming up to see us.

When you arrive

Please knock on the door to let us know you are here. We will ask if you have a hearing that day and if so what time. If we are busy we will ask you to wait outside or in the waiting room next door.

Waiting for an adviser

Clients are normally seen on a first come first served basis. However, at the County Court we do give priority to anyone having a hearing that day. This may mean that we will have to cut short an interview with someone without a hearing.

When to come

Many problems are complex and it can take time to look at options. Hence, we suggest that you do allow sufficient time and arrive early.

 If you have a hearing and have already been to see us we suggest you arrive at least 20 minutes before the scheduled time. If you have a hearing and have not been to see us before we suggest you arrive an hour before the scheduled time.

If you come in just before closing time we may only be able to offer you a brief interview or ask you to return at another time.

What to bring

Please bring with you as much information as you can about the issue you want to discuss. It is particularly important to bring all relevant paperwork; otherwise we may have to ask you to come back when you have it.

As examples, you should bring:

  • Details of the Possession Claim;
  • Any other letters from your landlord or the mortgage company;
  • Copies of any letters you have sent to your landlord or the mortgage company;
  • Details of your income (e.g. wage slips and/or benefit awards)
